Research Workshop: Robots, Robotics, Voice and Plant-Life: Crises of the Human?
Delighted to be asked to speak at this workshop delivered by the School of Modern Languages at Newcastle University.
The other speakers were Professor Julia Dobson (University of Sheffield) and Dr Joanna Page (University of Cambridge) and Bernhard Malkmus (Newcastle University)
The theme of ‘Crisis’ was explored in a two-hour session which involved presentations of cutting-edge projects that work across disciplines, and a workshop / debate. The copy stated that, 'Together they will bring us to consider the interfaces of the human and the non-human and the advancement of robotics as explored in theatrical performance and in plant life. Colleagues from Newcastle University - Pippa Anderson, a specialist in Voice, and Bernhard Malkmus, a specialist on the Anthropocene – will act as respondents, and participants may prepare for the discussion by reading about the speakers’ current research. Please see below a link to the abstracts for each discussion point'.
